Isidoro M. Garcia was called to eternal life on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 3:25 pm at the age of 83. He was resting at home with his wife and son at his side. Isidoro was born in Matanzas, Cuba and was the son of Isidoro Garcia and Regina Lavado Garcia. He grew up in El Central Alava and attended the Padre Felix Varela High School and the Universidad de Villanueva in Havana. He came to the USA in 1961 and graduated from Villanova University (Pa.) in 1965 with a degree in chemical engineering. Isidoro lived in Bound Brook for over 50 years. He was always willing to help others. He was extremely personable and made friends wherever he went, be it around town or on vacation. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, serving the parish in many capacities including being a member of the first Parish Council, a Eucharistic Minister, and as director of the Spanish-language First Communion preparation program for many years. He was an enthusiastic teacher who cared deeply for all of his students. He maintained relationships with many of them over the years. Isidoro was dedicated to helping unborn children and their mothers. He was active in Pro-Life causes, organized trips to the March for Life and was the Coordinator of the Somerset County Life Chain. He was recognized by the Diocese of Metuchen three times, receiving the Regina Nostra Medal, the Pro-Vita Award and a Catechetical Award. Isidoro was also an active member of the Bound Brook Republican Party. He had served the Borough on the Board of Health, the Board of Adjustment, and finished a vacated term on the Borough Council. Isidoro is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria del Carmen Garcia Armada, his son Luis and wife Natalie of Mount Laurel, NJ, his granddaughter Julia and many cousins in the USA and Cuba. He is pre-deceased by his son Isidorito. Gathering will be at 10:00 am at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ 08805, and a Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook, NJ 08805. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pregnancy Aid & Information Center, 59 Thompson Street, Raritan, NJ 08869, (908) 526-8121.
