Irene Hall

Irene May Hall, 93, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Rehab at River's Edge in Raritan. Born in Middlesex, she was the daughter of William S. and Violette (Tunison) Van Nest. A lifelong resident of Martinsville, Irene worked as an aide for the Bridgewater Raritan School District for ten years before retiring in 1990. She was a United States Navy (WAVES) veteran, serving during World War II, and was an honorary member of the Women's War Memorial in Washington D.C. Irene was a member of the Martinsville Community Center, the Bridgewater Seniors, and the Martinsville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for eight years. She loved playing bridge, shopping, and her daily visit to The Country Squire Diner in Warren. Mrs. Hall was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years, Robert G. Hall, Sr., in 2004, and her sister, Jeanette Springer in 2006. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Hall, Jr., of Hamilton Square; her daughter, Kathleen Bachmann of Bridgewater; her grandchildren, John Bachmann III, Heather Bachmann, Michael Van Nest Hall, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Anderson and Jonathan Hall, and Jaden, Hayley, and Jackson Bachmann. Cremation was private. Donations may be made to the Martinsville Rescue Squad, 1771 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, New Jersey 08836.
