Hugo Otto “Bud” Kladivko, 89, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, in Florida, where he had retired to several years ago. Born October 18, 1924, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Hugo and Helene E. (Loibl) Kladivko. Bud graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1942, where he was the junior and senior class presidents, and Lehigh University (Industrial Engineering) where he started to pursue his love of flying as a member of their flying club. He interrupted his college years when he enlisted in the US Naval Air Corps in October, 1944, to become an Aviation Cadet (V-5), and was honorably discharged in July, 1947. Bud’s employment began with Johns Manville as an engineer, and took him from New Jersey to the South (Atlanta, Miami, Birmingham), Philadelphia, and finally New York City, for over 25 years. A sales manager position for Nashua Corp., NH, followed until, at the age of 50, he resigned to create his own business, BK Supply Co., in Middlesex, handling industrial supplies. Retirement at age 69 saw Bud pursuing his passions for flying and playing golf, as well as family activities, and finding time to volunteer for Angel Flight, a non-profit organization providing transportation for ill adults and children. He also was a supporter of the Twin Boros Scholarship Foundation, which his father founded 30 years ago. Bud was predeceased by his parents, his sister Helene, and her husband, Chester Carter, and son-in-law, Francis Migliore. He is survived by his children Karen Kladivko Migliore of Three Bridges; Karl and wife Ana Kladivko of Clark, Beth and husband Maurry Mills of Dennysville, ME; Holly and husband Frank Patetta of Clinton; his sister Kathleen “Honey” and husband Bob Gardner of Mountain Lakes; his brother Dave and wife Dolly of Aiken, SC; his grandchildren Sarah and Laura Mills, Abigail [Mills] and husband Chad Davis, Nicholas Kladivko, Emily and Alex Patetta; his great granddaughter Amaya Mills and new-born great grandson Owen Reid Davis; his former spouse Barbara (Allena) Kladivko, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 3, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the noon funeral time on Saturday.
