Henry “Hank” Lentzsch, 70, died peacefully at his home, Saturday, September 25, 2021. Born in Somerville, he was son of Henry T. and Genevieve (Finter) Lentzsch. Hank was a graduate of Ridge High School. Hank wrestled in High School, and it was after winning a match against his rival high school, that he was introduced to Joan. He and Joan were longtime friends who frequently double dated. Their friendship blossomed into romance, and they married. They settled in Bound Brook and raised their family. Hank began working as a dispatcher for the Bound Brook Police Department, while attending the police academy. He worked for the BBPD for 21 years, retiring as a Sergeant. Hank loved Bound Brook and was an active member of the community he loved so much. He was a Boy Scout leader, Little League coach, Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks, an exempt fireman with the Bound Brook Fire Department #4. Known for his sense of humor and good nature, anyone who knew Hank, knew that if the garage door was open, Hank was inside fixing things for his friends and neighbors, restoring his ‘57 Chevy Bel Air, or working on his motorcycle. He enjoyed car shows, helping his community, traveling with his family, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Hank was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan (Rossmeissl); his children Denise (Chris) Puga, Darin (Laura) Lentzsch and Diana (Alex) Tischler; his grandchildren Ava, Sadie, Anneliese, Houston, and Arielle; his sisters Linda (John) Robinson, Jackie, Carol (Robert) Maciborski, Cindy (George) Mobus, Sheri (Henri) Coene and brothers Ray and Alan (Kasia); his sister-in-law Janet (Jim) Moose; his brother-in-law Clifford Rossmeissl and many nieces and nephews. Gathering with family and friends will be Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. The funeral service will begin 10:00 AM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial at Bound Brook Cemetery will follow. Memorial donations in Hank’s name may be made to the Bound Brook Fire Department PO Box 293, Bound Brook, NJ 08805
