Helen Smith

Helen Marie Smith, 91, died Tuesday, January 26, 2006, at home. Born March 14, 1924, in Neshanic Station, she was the daughter of Milton and Charlotte Slover Verity. She had resided in Somerset for the past fifty-nine years. She was a graduate of Flemington High School, Class of 1941, and the Philadelphia School of the Bible, Class of 1948. Helen worked as a secretary for three years at American Cyanamid Company, Bridgewater, and later for three years as a teacher aide for the Franklin Township School District. Most of her life she was a homemaker, devoted to family and raising her five children. She enjoyed playing piano, dominoes, reading, local history, and genealogy. She was a member of the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, Belle Meade. Helen is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, H. Richard Smith; her children, Richard P. Smith of Somerset, Douglas A. Smith of Millville, Daniel W. (and his wife, Nancy) Smith of Skillman, Frank M. Smith of Evensville, Tennessee, Elaine A. (and her husband, Michael) Sullivan of Yardley, Pennsylvania; her sisters, Charlotte Krietler of Spring Hill, Florida, Joyce Kuster of Ringoes; nine grandchildren, and her six beloved great-grandchildren Visitation will begin 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 30, at the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, 246 Belle Mead - Griggstown Road, Belle Meade 08503, followed by an 11:00 A.M. funeral service with the Reverend Brian Cooper, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, East Millstone.
