Helen Elizabeth Ciarfello, 88, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Pine Acres Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Madison. Born December 30, 1928, in Paterson, she was the daughter of Carmine and Helen Gioia Vigorito. She had resided in Glen Rock, then Hawthorne, then Bound Brook from 1966 until moving to Madison in 2013 Helen worked as a saleswoman for Meyer Brothers Department Store, Paterson, then Dumont Laboratories, Paterson, then Federal Radio and Telephone Company, Passaic, retiring in 1955 to begin raising her family. She had been an active Communicant of St. Joseph R. C. Church, Bound Brook, serving as Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, and Funeral Lector. She taught CCD for the church for many years and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Matthew J. Ciarfello, who died in 1994, and her brother, Carmine T. Vigorito. She is survived by her sons, Matthew T. Ciarfello of Freehold, Stephen M. Ciarfello of South Orange, John Ciarfello and his wife, Diane Manger, of Millburn; her siblings, Frances Friend of Roseville, California, Lorraine Longaro of Boynton Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Gina and Samantha Ciarfello, and Jaclyn Murphy, her husband Brian, and their son, Finn Visiting will be 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 1, at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery.
