Harvey Max Weitz, born in New York City on December 31, 1924, to Isadore and Rose (Silverman) Weitz, passed away peacefully from natural causes in Flemington, New Jersey, on April 14, 2020. He was 95. Harvey was a graduate of New York’s George Washington High School and served honorably in the United States Army during World War II from 1943-1945 in the European theater and attaining the rank of sergeant. On February 23, 1952, he married Sara Yvette Schwartz of Newark, NJ, sharing 68 wonderful years together. They raised one son, Jay, and two daughters, Marcy Braco and Lori Egan. After his military service, Harvey studied art and graphic design in Newark, New Jersey. He went on to work as a supervisor for Brothers Chemical Company and then for Reynolds Metals in Carteret, NJ, eventually retiring there. Throughout his life, Harvey loved to paint-- in oils during his younger years, and watercolors later on. The walls of his home and those of his children are graced with many of his works. He was also a lifelong stamp collector who conducted a small philatelic business from his home for many years. He also loved to build things and to learn. At his basement workbench in his Colonia, NJ home, he taught himself about electronics through an RCA correspondence course and assembled an oscilloscope and a black-and-white television set from kits. Harvey was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sisters Ruth and Jean, and brothers Nathan, Harry, Jack, Morris and Melvin. Harvey was an adoring husband and father and a genuinely dedicated, kind and loving family man who will be dearly missed by his beloved wife and life's companion Sara, Jay and wife Esther, Marcy and husband Nick, Lori and husband Vincent. He will also be lovingly and affectionately remembered by grandchildren David Weiss and wife Penny, Julie Dunkle and husband Jason, Samantha Snyder and husband David, Jennifer Vialette and husband Gregor, Melissa Braco and fiancee Dennis McCarson, Bryan Egan and three great grandchildren (with one on the way).
