Harry J Thorsen

March 15, 1936 — April 10, 2024

Harry Thorsen, 88, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024. Born in Perth Amboy, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy Thorsen, Harry's journey was one of resilience, warmth, and community spirit.

After graduating from Perth Amboy High School, Harry pursued his passion for education, earning a master's degree from Rider University. His dedication led him to Edison High School, where he shared his knowledge in business administration and accounting, leaving an indelible mark by founding and running the work-study program.

In Martinsville, Harry was more than a neighbor; he was the heart of the community, affectionately dubbed "the mayor of his street." His home was a haven of hospitality, where laughter flowed freely and friendships blossomed. Harry's kind and generous nature endeared him to all who crossed his path, earning him a special place in the hearts of many. Whether sharing stories over a cup of coffee or indulging in his love for fine bourbon and gin, Harry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. As a father, Harry's love knew no bounds, and his family held a central role in his life. In his leisure time, Harry pursued his passions for antiquing, antique cars and coin collecting..... finding solace in the beauty of the past.
