Giovanna Russo

Giovanna Russo, 90, died peacefully on May 4, 2024 at Complete Care at Bey Lea, Toms River.

Born in Naples, she was the daughter of Gennaro and Vincenza DeStefano. She grew up in Italy, where she met her husband Salvatore and in 1959, they married in Pompeii, Italy. They emigrated to the United States and settled in Bound Brook to raise their family.

Giovanna worked as a seamstress. Her passion for sewing and crocheting continued throughout her retirement. She loved to cook and bake, and the making of Sunday dinner was always a special occasion. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Giovanna was predeceased by her husband Salvatore and three sisters: Maria, Theresa, and Rose. She leaves behind her two sons, Michael Russo and his wife Monica; Jerry Russo and his wife Tisa; her grandchildren Brandon Russo and his wife Ana; Tyler Russo and his wife Sara; Bryan, Sean, Samantha; and great-grandchild Giavanna.

Gathering with the family will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at Hagan-

Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue in Bound Brook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m at St. Joseph Church in Bound Brook.

Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Giovanna’s name to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association.
