George Pendleton

George Hyde Pendleton, 86, died Saturday, August 27, 2016, at North Broward Medical Center, Deerfield Park, Florida. Born August 4, 1930, in Somerville, he was the son of John Hyde and Miriam Fekete Pendleton, Jr. He resided in Hillsborough until moving to Somerville in 1942. He was a Florida “Snow Bird,” and enjoyed wintering in Deerfield Beach. George worked as a builder, but since he was a child, assisted his father at Pendleton Brake Service, Hillsborough. He took over the business upon his father’s retirement in 1968, operating it until he retired in 2015. George was a member of the Gospel Mission Corporation, affiliated with the Pillar of Fire Church, Zarephath, and Ayts Chayim Synagogue, Boca Raton, Florida. He interests included racing, boating, and sports. George was predeceased by his brother, John H. Pendleton III. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of forty-three years, Martha Ruth Sohn Pendleton; his daughter, Angeline Jane Johnston and her husband, Matthew, of Pompano Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, Hydie Ruthann Pendleton and Donna Michelle Johnston, and his beloved great-granddaughter, Robbie Hyde, all of Pompano Beach. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Thursday, September 1, at the funeral home, with a funeral service at 8:00 P.M., during the visiting hours. The Reverend Robert Turton of the Pillar of Fire Church, will officiate. George’s family intends to establish a scholarship fund for his gifted great-granddaughter, Robbie, and would appreciate donations, which may be made to the family and sent in care of Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, LLC., 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, New Jersey 08805 - 2047.
