George Kaminsky of South Bound Brook, NJ passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 89. He was born in Bayonne, NJ, the youngest of 8 children of the late Charles and Pauline Kaminsky. He was raised in Bayonne, and married Helen Skirka of Czechoslovakia and Bayonne, NJ in 1957. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and spent 3 years stationed at Burtonwood Air Force Base in England. George was a former employee of AT&T Bell Labs where he worked for 31 years and authored over 25 technical papers. Following his tenure at Bell Labs, in 1985 he began his career at Princeton University where he established the first instructional silicon processing lab for undergraduate and later graduate students studying Electrical Engineering. George retired after 11 years at Princeton in 1996. George has been a member of the South Bound Brook Fire Company since 1960 and held numerous officer level positions including Fire Chief in 1972. He was a member of the American Legion Post 363, Moose Lodge, and a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church in South Bound Brook, NJ. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Zegliewski, Ann Kalajian, Helene Gompay and Kay Zemitas and brothers, John and Nicholas Kaminsky. He is survived by his wife Helen; son, Paul Kaminsky of South Bound Brook, NJ; daughter, Janet Morris of Bridgewater, NJ; daughter, Sharon (Patrick) Burke of Morristown, NJ; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his sister Marge Nowicky of Toms River NJ; and many nieces and nephews. Gathering will be January 4, 2019, at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will take place 9:00 AM, January 5, 2019, at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 AM mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, South Bound Brook, NJ. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ. Memorial donations may be made in George’s memory to The Steeplechase Cancer Center, 30 Rehill Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876.
