George Alexander, 90, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016, at home with his family. Born April 23, 1926, In Liepāja, Latvia, he was the son of Aleksandrs and Elisabeth Dowkont. He immigrated to America in May of 1951, living in Brooklyn before moving to New Jersey. George was employed by Bristol - Myers for thirty-five years. He enjoyed maintaining the Secret Garden for his grandchildren, holding annual garage sales with his wife, visiting Atlantic City, running, teaching others about the 5 languages he spoke, as well as listening to classical music. George was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores Alexander, and his daughter, Nancy Wied. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Margaret Alexander; his son, Fred Wied IV and his wife Gayle of Somerville; his daughters, Debbie Procek and her husband Jeff of Dunellen, Donna Koleszar and her husband Paul of East Brunswick, and his six beloved grandchildren, Fred Wied V, Alex Wied, Nicolette Koleszar, Victoria Procek, Zachary Koleszar, and Aleksandra Procek. Visiting hours will be 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society , Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, Massachusetts 01202.
