Obituary

Felix J Reid III, 79, passed away close to midnight on the evening of May 25, 2023 at home with family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was the son of Felix J Reid Jr. and Mary (Stoicovich) Reid. He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1961. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Hooper in the Pacific from 1961-1965. He earned his BA in marketing from La Salle University.

Felix married his wife, Eileen M (Casey) Reid an on January 6, 1968 and they would’ve celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year, but Eileen unexpectedly passed away on September 27, 2022. Felix and Eileen were soul mates and their love was the envy of all that knew them. This world has lost another great soul, but they are together again in heaven.

Felix was a devout Roman Catholic and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook, where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. Felix loved music and to play his guitar and sing. In recent years, he would play open mic nights and during the pandemic, began to live stream his performances on Facebook. We will cherish those memories forever. He also enjoyed bowling and played on a league for decades. He was very handy and could fix just about anything. He was a very kind, loving, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was truly one of a kind and deeply loved.

Felix is survived by his 4 children, Eileen M. Reid (Mark), Jennifer A. Dedrick (David), Felix J. Reid, and Maryanne Sawade (Brian) and his 6 grandchildren, Genevieve and Kevin Rolon, Madeline and Julia Sawade, and Felix and Celia Reid.

He is also survived by his siblings Mary Maloney, Maureen Goonan, Michael Reid, and Kevin Reid.

Gathering with the family will be at St Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook at 10am on Friday, June 2, 2023 with his funeral mass beginning at 11am. He will be buried with his wife at Bound Brook cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.

Memorial donations in Felix’s name can be made via check and mailed to the Joey F. Casey Memorial Foundation, 8121 Cresco Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136. This is a charity that is very dear to the Reid Family.
