In Loving Memory Of FEDIR PETRYK Fedir passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Abington Manor at Morgan Hill in Easton, Pennsylvania at the age of 94 years. He was born on September 27, 1923 in the village of Stare in the Borispil District, Kiev Region, Ukraine to Paraska (nee Boyko) and Mychailo Petryk. At age 17, he was forced to flee his homeland. He met Maria Rogowyi in Germany and they were married on February 22, 1948 and immigrated to the United States in March of 1949. Their first daughter, Maria Luba, was born in 1950. He found employment with Stauffer Chemical Company in Morrisville, PA. as a chemical operator, which he held for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He had an innate knowledge of construction and built the family home in Levittown, PA. , in which he lived for 60 years. In 1961, twin daughters were born, Halya and Leah. He was active in the local Ukrainian community and was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Trenton, NJ. He had an innate gift for building and fixing things, be it plumbing or electrical and continued to use his construction abilities. He loved to garden and would plant vegetables, fruit trees and flowers and raised bees for honey. He enjoyed woodworking and built all the cabinets in his house as well as beautiful pieces of furniture. He was an avid photographer and loved to capture family events and cultural events on video. He became an active member of the Ukrainian National Association and for 55 years, he was Secretary of UNA Branch #362 in Bristol, PA. He spent many years promoting this Fraternal organization within the local Ukrainian community. With his great love of music and dance, he worked diligently to foster the love of Ukrainian culture by helping to organize the purchase of a Ukrainian Center in Bristol, Pa. and organized a local Ukrainian Dance Group and supported many Ukrainian events in the Bristol and Trenton areas. His favorite get-away spot was Soyuzivka, as it reminded him of his homeland. He spent many summer weekends and vacations there with his family and would re-visit those days, watching his videos. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, his grand-children and his great-grand-children and loved playing with his grand-daughter’s (Alexa) little Chihuahua, Cuddles.
