Eugene S. Bogstahl, 48, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Overlook Hospital, Summit. Born in Orange, he grew up in Maplewood before settling in Springfield in 1994. As a child, Eugene was fascinated with Star Wars action figures and began collecting. He remained an avid Star Wars fan and continued adding to his collection. He had a soft spot for cats and would rescue strays. Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Charles and Janet Katherine (Stoft) Bogstahl, and his niece, Lauren Kaylor. He leaves behind his aunt, Laura Bogstahl; his brother, Scott Bogstahl and his wife, Frances, of Manasquan; his sisters, Alison Gomes and her husband, Gerson, of Springfield, Lynn Kaylor and her husband, Robert, of Berkley Heights; his nieces and nephews, Alexa, Daniella, and Nicole Bogstahl; Robert and Christopher Kaylor; Ashley, Andreá, and Dylan Gomes; several cousins, and his rescued cats, Mr. Kitty and Milton. Memorial services will be 12:30 P.M. Saturday, October 25, at the Springfield Presbyterian Church, Springfield. Interment of ashes will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 27, at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, P.O.
