Emily Nadbielny (nee Wlazlo), the daughter of Polish immigrants, was a loving wife (Stanley Joseph Nadbielny, 2016), devoted mother of Stanley R. (Tammy) , Eleanor (Jim O’Leary), and Thomas (Regina), and devoted grandmother of Katheryn (Michael Ambrosi) and Thomas S.J. She grew up in Elmhurst, Queens, NY, and graduated high school in 1940. During WWII, she volunteered at her local hospital and worked as a secretary for various companies in Manhattan until she married in 1954. After marrying, she joined her husband in Bound Brook, NJ. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Bound Brook. When her children attended St. Mary’s grammar school in the 1960’s and early 70’s, she was an active member of the PTA, served as a Cub Scout den mother, and Brownie and Junior Girl Scout leader, and volunteered in the school library. She arranged many class trips for her children’s school groups and scout troops, including trips to Radio City Music Hall, New York museums, the Circus & Ice Capades at Madison Square Garden, and the 1964-65 World’s Fair. When her children were grown, she devoted herself to church and civic affairs She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, managed the church blood drives, and arranged bus trips for seniors to Atlantic City. She was a staunch conservative and anti-communist, a founding member of Somerset County Right-to-Life, and worked on some political campaigns, including Congressman Chris Smith. She maintained an active interest in national and world affairs until her last day. She passed away of complications from old age at age 98. She leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, with whom she stayed in touch via text messages on her iPhone. Gathering will be 9:00 AM, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in Bound Brook. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough will follow.
