Elinor K. Shepard

Elinor K. Shepard, 90, died Saturday, April 29, 2015, at home. Born September 15, 1926, in Bound Brook, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Helfen Kraycar. She had resided in Middlesex for over fifty years. She graduated Bound Brook High School, Class of 1944. Elinor was an administrator for the Rutgers University Psychology Department for twelve years, retiring in 1990. Before that, she was a secretary for Ortho Diagnostics, Bridgewater, for fifteen years. She was a member of the Happy Wanderers Travel Club, and a devoted Communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Roman Catholic Church, Middlesex. She loved shopping, cats, her Labrador retriever, “Noodles,” crocheting, and trips to Atlantic City. She especially enjoyed visits from her nephew, Neal. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Elinor was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Richard L. Shepard, who died in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Lee-Ann (Joseph) McNulty of Middlesex; her son, Kenneth (Nancy) Shepard of Maysville, North Carolina; she cared for grandchildren Jacqueline, Joey, Richie, and Tommy McNulty when they were children - they returned the favor by caring for her in her final years. She is also survived by grandchildren Beth (Earl) Witman, Becky (Glen) Hess, eight great-grandchildren, one niece, and five nephews. Funeral services will be 8:45 A.M. Tuesday, May 2, at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 A.M. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Monday.
