Dominic R. Ciardi Marine Corps Captain, Former HR Director Member of Piscataway School Board â 26 years Dominic R. Ciardi passed away on August 21, 2013. Born December 9, 1931, in Dover, he was the son of Soccorso and Ermelinda Ciardi. He graduated from Dover High School in 1949. He was a member of the 1948 state championship football team. He also excelled on the high school baseball team as a catcher. He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1953. He served in the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank of Captain. He was stationed in California and Japan. In 1956 he married Patty Brown, also from Dover, and they moved to Chicago, Illinois. In 1958, Dominic received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, where he also worked in their Industrial Relations Center. In 1959 he returned to New Jersey and became an instructor for Rutgers University. In 1960 he took a position with M & T Chemicals in Rahway, NJ, where he worked until his retirement in 1995 as Director of Human Resources and Administration. Dominic served on the Piscataway School Board for 26 years. The athletic field is named in his honor. In 1965 he was chosen âMan of the Yearâ by the Piscataway Jaycees. In 1999 his name was placed on the âWall of Fameâ at Dover High School. He was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway for 54 years. After retirement, he volunteered his services maintaining the church and grounds as well as renovating its basement. Dominic was a dearly loved husband, and father of 2 daughters, 3 sons, and grandfather of 9. He is survived by his beloved wife Pat of 57 years, daughter Cindy Whittington, husband Larry and daughter Blair of Fairfax, VA; daughter Kim Madlinger, husband Matt and daughters Lindsey and Allison, and son Andrew of Basking Ridge; son Mark Ciardi, wife Liat, and sons Hayden and Luke of Westlake Village, CA; son Scott Ciardi, wife Jacquie, and daughters Olivia and Brooke of Alexandria, VA; son Jeff Ciardi, wife Dawn, and son Derek of Chandler, AZ, and his sisters Helen Pennella of Dover, and Minnie Bentrovato of Denville. He was predeceased by his brother Alfonso, and sisters Mary, Carrie, and Angie. Funeral services will be 9:15 A.M. Monday, August 26, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Frances Cabrini Church. Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.
