David A. Dombey, Sr., 83, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Somerset Valley Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Bridgewater. Born in Manville, he was the son of John and Margaret (Galambos) Dombey. Mr. Dombey was a graduate of Bound Brook High School, Class of 1949. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 – 1954, as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Second Class, stationed at the Naval Air Station, Pamona, New Jersey. He was employed for thirty-five years at Johns Manville Corporation as a supervisor. Mr. Dombey was a life member of Thomas J. Kavanaugh Post No. 2290, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Manville, Bound Brook Fire Department, Relief Company No. 4, and a member of Giles - Biondi American Legion Post No. 63, Bound Brook. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, serving as usher for fifteen years. He enjoyed woodworking and socializing in the afternoon with his friends. Mr. Dombey was predeceased by his son, Daniel, in 2012. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Bernadette Campanella Dombey of Bound Brook; his son, David A. Dombey, Jr., of Bound Brook, his brother, John Dombey of Hillsborough, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 15. Funeral Services will be 9:30 A.M., Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bound Brook Cemetery.
