Daniel Surman

Daniel J. Surman, 84, died Wednesday, January, 9, 2019 at home. Born in Newark, he was the son of Edward and Katherine (Krocynski) Surman. He lived in Union before moving to Piscataway 56 years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country from 1954 to 1956. He was a mechanical engineer for Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County for over 30 years before his retirement in 1999. He was a communicant of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway. He was a family man who loved sports and all outdoor activities including fishing, boating and camping. He is survived by his wife Cecelia, 3 sons, Daniel, Surman, Jr. of Piscataway, Michael Surman of Piscataway and Steven and his wife Cyndi Surman of Tinton Falls, a brother, Ronald Paul Surman of Medford, 2 grandchildren, Benjamin and Jake Surman and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Dickey in 1990. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 208 Bound Brook Avenue, Piscataway. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to The American Diabetes Association, 2575 NJ-28 #2107, Raritan, NJ 08869. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.
