At the age of 95, Daniel "Pop" Csontos passed peacefully on August 19th, 2021, surrounded by his family. Daniel was a lifelong resident of South Bound Brook, New Jersey. At 17, He joined the navy and proudly served in the Pacific theater aboard the destroyer USS Braine during WW2. He was a Purple Heart recipient along with additional campaign and combat commendations. Daniel worked for 40+ years at Union carbide, retiring in 1986 as a production manager. Daniel enjoyed a long and eventful retirement with his beloved wife Ethel of 69 years. Daniel and Ethel traveled extensively throughout the country and spent quality time with their friends and family. Daniel spent his remaining years living with his daughter Debbie Kwiatkowski at her home in Branchburg New Jersey. Daniel is predeceased by wife Ethel, and son Donald. He is Survived by Daughter Debbie Kwiatkowski, grand children Jessica and Steve Skakum, Ronnie and Daniela Kwiatkowski, and Daniel Csontos. Great Grandchildren Hannah and Madison Csontos, Kendall and Jack Skakum, and newest arrival Daniel Kwiatkowski. Gathering with the family will be 2 – 4 and 7 – 9PM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Martin Winters presiding. Cremation will be private. Memorial donations in Daniel's name may be made to Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290, 600 Washington Ave. Manville, New Jersey 08835.
