Cynthia Hellerman Bridgewater - Cynthia Hellerman (nee Erickson) passed away on May 4, 2018 at Arbor Glen in Bridgewater at the age of 79. She was born in East Orange, NJ, and grew up in Dover where she made friends that lasted the rest of her life. After graduating from Dover High School, she attended Centenary College and Upsala College. She was a member Theta Beta Gamma sorority and was the co-editor of the college newspaper with her future husband, George. They enjoyed almost fifty years of marriage and had two sons, George, Jr and Erik. After living in Piscataway and Ponce, PR, she settled down with her family in Bridgewater where she became involved at the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and singing in the choir. She continued her newspaper work as the real estate editor for the Courier News for more than 20 years. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Rutgers Women's basketball team. For more than a quarter century, she and George followed the Rutgers team to tournaments throughout the country. She enjoyed travelling and visited all 50 states. Mrs. Hellerman was predeceased by her husband George, and her parents, Carl and Alice (Lee) Erickson. She is survived by her two sons, George, Jr. of North Plainfield and Erik (Erika) of Nashville, TN, her brother Carl, two nephews, Carl and Matthew, grand-nephew Andrew, grandniece Isabella and several cousins. Visitation is on Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 to 11:00 with the memorial service to follow, both at the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church, 409 Mountain Ave, Bound Brook, NJ. Her ashes will be interred with her husband's in the Bound Brook Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church capital campaign fund.
