**In Loving Memory of Craig Konkle**
Craig M. Konkle, a beloved father, dedicated Scout leader, volunteer firefighter, coach, and pillar of the community, passed away suddenly on March 23, 2024. His tragic and untimely departure left a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Born on December 25, 1969, in Seoul, South Korea, Craig lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to his family and community. He cherished his role as a husband to his beloved wife, Beth, and took great pride in supporting his children, Raymond and Sophie, in their pursuits. Whether it was supporting Raymond in Scouts and wrestling or cheering on Sophie in dance and archery, Craig was always there with unwavering love and encouragement.
Craig graduated from North Warren Regional High School and attend Glassboro University (Rowan University) where he earned a BS in Engineering. He was a Manufacturing Engineer at Veeco, located in Somerset, NJ.
Craig was predeceased by his mother, D. Lois Konkle, his father, Raymond H. Konkle and son, Nathan Edward. They are now reunited in eternal peace.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Beth nee Dwyer, children, Raymond and Sophie, and sister, Lois Clare “Tia”, sister Sue-Anne; his mother-in-law, Deb Csontos “G-Ma”; his aunt Sharon and uncle Allen Longenecker, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Craig was deeply rooted in the scouting community, having served as a leader with Troop 42 and Troop 154. He was an Eagle Scout himself, earning this accomplishment at the age of 14, exemplifying the Scout Oath and Scout Law in everything he did. His passion for scouting extended beyond his own achievements as he mentored and guided young scouts, instilling in them the values of leadership, service, and camaraderie.
Craig was also an integral part of the Philmont Scout Crew 629-3, serving as one of the dedicated advisors preparing for a 90-mile trek this summer, an adventure he and his son looked forward to doing together. His passion for scouting and commitment to the development of young Scouts was evident in his every action. In honor of Craig's memory, the Philmont Scout Crew 629-3 will continue their journey with heavy hearts but fortified by his enduring spirit. They will carry forward his legacy of dedication, leadership, and camaraderie as they embark on their summer trek.
Craig was also a committed volunteer firefighter for the South Bound Brook Fire Department, where he served as the Deputy Chief among other positions. His bravery in the face of danger was a testament to his commitment to serving and protecting others. Craig was dedicated to continuing his training and teaching others. In 2017, Craig humbly accepted the Valor Award on behalf of his fire department.
Craig's love for the outdoors and his desire to provide opportunities and experiences for youth were evident in his involvement as a Little League Coach for the Franklin Township South Bound Brook Little League. He found joy in working with young athletes, nurturing their talents, and instilling in them a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship. His impact extended beyond his immediate circle and his dedication touched the lives of many.
Raymond and Sophie are left to carry on Craig’s legacy of love, service, and dedication. Though his physical presence may be gone, Craig's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the lives he touched through his selfless service and boundless generosity. Always with a warm smile, giving spirit and selflessness, Craig won the hearts of all that knew him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 29th, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
