Constance Schuyler

May 5, 1932 — August 28, 2024

Constance Bradford Schuyler passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, following a memorable day surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born in Winchester, MA in 1932. She was married for 70 years to Mike Schuyler, and is survived by Mike, four children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Connie received undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Columbia University and worked as a nurse before raising her four children. When her children were older, she worked as a professor of nursing at City College and Wagner College in New York City. While at Wagner, she went on to serve as Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Provost. She and Mike were members of and very active in the Bound Brook Congregational Church. Connie was the founder of their Book Group, later named The Deipnosophistical Society, which is still together after 64 years, over 500 books, and multiple trips together.

Connie and Mike were devoted to their children and grandchildren. The family lived in the Philippines for two years in the late 1960’s and traveled extensively around the globe during that time. When they returned to Bound Brook, they had many fun family adventures, especially summers at their family home in Rockport, MA. Connie and Mike created a monthly newsletter for the grandkids, “The Tidings,” which shared news and pictures about each child as well as interesting articles about history, poetry, geography and other topics. Connie loved pictures of her grandchildren, making individual photo albums for each child and peppering every surface in her home with pictures of family through the years.

Surviving family members include husband Mike Schuyler, children Steve Schuyler and his four children, Kristen Cianfrone, and Victoria, Nicole and Brad Schuyler; Cindy Lavoie and her two children Thomas and Lucas; Pete Schuyler and his four children Sarah, Cortlandt, Malcolm and Braden; and Catherine Schuyler and her daughter Charis Edwards.

A memorial service for Connie will be held at the Bound Brook Congregational Church on Monday, September 2 at 2:00, with visitation and a closed casket at 12:00 to 2:00 that same day. All services are under the direction of the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home www.hagan-chamberlain.com
