Cleone Wells

Cleone R. Wells, 94, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at Bridgeway Care Center, Bridgewater. Born April 3, 1923, in Emerson, Iowa, she was the daughter of McKinley and Clara Brown Irvin. She married George R. Wells in Baltimore, lived in Philadelphia, then Piscataway for thirty years, moving to Bridgewater in 2002. Cleone served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class. She worked as a bookkeeper for Rutgers University, New Brunswick, for sixteen years, retiring in 1988. She was an avid bowler, serving on the Board of Directors of the Somerset - Hunterdon Bowling Association. She was a member of Donald L. Clowes Post No. 507, American Legion, Bridgewater. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. Cleone was predeceased by her husband in 1995. She is survived by her sons, Vernon Wells of Piscataway, Kenneth Wells, of Green Brook, Eugene Wells of Piscataway; her sister, Shirley Ann Morrow of Tekamah, Nebraska, and her beloved grandchildren, Kristen, Kevin, Brian, and Meaghan Wells. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. Interment will be at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway. Friends will be received at the funeral home 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday.
