Ciro Fontaine Jr.

Ciro Fontaine, Jr., passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at his home in Bound Brook, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born in Queens to Wilhelmena VanRyan and Ciro Fontaine, Sr., Ciro was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and settled in Bound Brook, New Jersey in the mid-1970s, where he met his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy. Ciro built them a home and together they raised their family.

Ciro was a larger-than-life man who possessed many talents, enormous generosity, and enough love to share with his family and many dear friends. He was the guy who always showed up when a helping hand was needed. He made friends everywhere he went and all have a story about how Ciro helped or influenced them. He loved his friends and he loved helping people.

When it came to hard work, Ciro was in a class by himself. The owner of Contemporary Home Improvements for over 40 years, his reliability, industriousness, quality work, and efficiency were legendary. He put a roof or siding on homes all over central Jersey, and worked every day until just weeks before his passing.

A lifetime member of the National Street Rod Association, Ciro enjoyed finding, restoring, and showing antique cars. He received numerous awards for his work.

Ciro was an avid collector. He also loved and cared for many cats.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in South Bound Brook where he served as an usher.

More than all of his accomplishments, Ciro loved his family. His loss will be deeply felt by his wife Nancy (Kaczanowski), daughter Denise Yerger, son Brandon and his wife, Natalie, and grandchildren Gabriel, Sierra, and Logan Yerger. He will be missed by his surviving sisters Aurora and Adel, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ciro’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
