Catherine Elizabeth McAlick, a beloved resident of Bound Brook, New Jersey, and formerly of Skillman, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on January 15th. Born on February 27, 1934, at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Catherine was known for her deep compassion, her enduring faith, and her lifelong dedication to helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward McAlick, and her cherished children, Mary Ellen McAlick and Edward Charles McAlick (Sonny). Catherine was the devoted daughter of Mary Ellen Lynch and Charles King, and she was reunited in heaven with her dear siblings, Anna Marie Conklin, and George King.
Catherine spent over 25 years as a Medical Supervisor at the New Jersey Neuro Psychiatric Institution in Skillman, where her work touched the lives of many patients and colleagues alike. Following her early retirement, she found renewed purpose and joy working as an aide for special needs children with Barker Bus. It was there that she met her significant other of 13 years, Steven Beebe, who has also preceded her in death.
A woman of unwavering faith, Catherine was a dedicated Roman Catholic. She taught religious education as a catechist, lent her beautiful voice to the church choir, and lived her values through acts of kindness and service. She was also a passionate advocate for animal welfare, dedicating time, and resources to causes close to her heart.
Catherine’s legacy of love and generosity lives on in her family. She is survived by her goddaughter, niece, and devoted caretaker, Nancy Costello; her nephews Mark Conklin and his wife, Ellen, and John Conklin and his wife, Layla; her niece Linda McMullen, her husband, Steve, and their son, Cory Steven; and her niece Pat Kerl and her husband, Alan. She also leaves behind her sister, Audrey Martin and her sister-in-law, Anne King, as well as many friends and extended family who will forever treasure her memory.
Catherine’s warmth, humor, and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In her honor, please consider donating to an animal rescue organization or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
