Carmela Ciminelli

Carmela Armentano Ciminelli, 78, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at RWJ University Hospital, Somerset surrounded by her family. Born on October 17, 1936 in Amendolara, Calabria, Italy, she was raised in Terranova di Pollino before emigrating to the United States in 1969 and settled in Bound Brook. She moved to Bridgewater in 2002. Carmela was an accomplished seamstress before retiring in 1989. She was a devoted communicant of St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Bound Brook. Mrs. Ciminelli was pre-deceased by her son Giuseppe, her parents and her three brothers. Carmela is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Antonio; her children, Rosa, and her husband, Gerard Flanagan, of Bridgewater; Joseph, and his wife, Maria Urso Ciminelli, of Bridgewater; and Maria Ciminelli, MD, and her partner Barbara Banks, of Somerset; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and her sister, Maria Armentano, Italy. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crocheting. Carmela was a wonderful matriarch that held her family together with love. Funeral services will begin at 8:45 AM, Saturday, May 30 at the funeral, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church. Visiting will be Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Entombment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater.
