Bill Plescia, 92, died Thursday, December 15, 2016, at home. Born September 7, 1924, in Rahway, he was the son of Frank and Anita Plescia. He had resided in Somerset since 1961. He was employed by Elizabethtown Gas Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1990, as Inspector. He was a very active Communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in South Bound Brook. He made sure to pass his Catholic faith on to his daughters. He served as an usher and bingo volunteer for many years. After his retirement, he volunteered at Somerset Medical Center for over ten years. Known as a great golfer, he made a hole-in-one in 1972 at Spooky Brook Golf Course. He was an avid bowler but his greatest passion was ballroom dancing with his wife, Nella, winning many trophies. He was a huge fan of the New York Rangers, Giants, and Yankees. His daughters, Lisa and Lora, watched many Rangers games with him. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Middlesex American Legion, faithfully serving his country in World War II, as a Seaman 2nd Class in the Navy. He was discharged in 1944. Bill was predeceased by his four siblings. Surviving are his beloved wife, Nella, daughters Michelle Moskal of Somerset, Lora and husband Joe Huszar of South Bound Brook, and Lisa Maselli of Somerset, three grandchildren Victoria and her husband, José, Amanda, and Heather, and a great-grandson, Leonardo. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday, December 19, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, burial will be at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
