Bernadine Pasternak, 91 passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – Somerset, surrounded by her children. Bernadine was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA. in 1932 with her twin brother Bernard. She was married November 6, 1954, in Wilkes-Barre, she and her husband moved to Plainfield and then to the Middlebush section of Somerset, where she raised her children and spent the remainder of her life. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Matthias Church. Bernadine was a member of the Franklin Park and Franklin Township Senior Citizens Club. She worked for KinderCare in Somerset for 20 years in the infant room before retiring in 2006. She took care and loved the infants as if they were her own.
Bernadine was predeceased by her parents Michael and Valeria (Czahur) Kluk; husband Stephen Jr. in 2004; son Stephen III in 2005; son Michael in 2018; grandson Jonathan in 2020 and her siblings Lillian, Joseph and Bernard. She is survived by her children Alan, Richard and Sharon Prouty; her grandsons David Prouty and Marc Pasternak; as well as many loving family, friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM, Monday, April 3, 2023, at St. Matthias Church, 68 John F Kennedy Blvd, Somerset, NJ 08873. Cremation will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook, NJ.
