Bart J. DeMato, Jr., 83 of Bound Brook passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 7, 2024.
Bart was born on December 27, 1940, to Bartholomew and Anne (nee Jandoli) DeMato in Somerville, New Jersey and grew up in Bound Brook where he attended Bound Brook High School and was a talented baseball player. Bound Brook High School won the State Championship with Bart on the team, and it was one of his most memorable accomplishments.
Bart worked for American Cyanamid in Bound Brook for over 33 years and retired as a Superintendent. There he was loved and admired by his co-workers for his work ethic and dedication to his job.
Bart was an avid Red Sox fan. In his younger days, he was often found at the racetrack betting on the horses. As he got older, he took to watching the races online and playing card games. He loved to watch college football on Saturdays as well. His collection of sport ball caps was legendary – some from teams he never saw play but just liked the look of them. You’d never see him without one of his caps.
Bart is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Rosanne Czinkota Wowchuck.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Georgina and daughter Stephanie (Dahms) and her husband Doug. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel, Alayna, and Jessi and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him greatly.
Bart was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His love for his family was his top priority and he treasured all the time he spent with each and every one of them. His quick wit and wise cracks were infamous as was his colorful story telling. He always had a valuable tidbit of information to share.
It is without question that Bart’s spirit and friendship will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
