Arthur Elwood Morecraft

Arthur Elwood Morecraft, 77 of Galloway, NJ passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021. Arthur was born on July 1, 1943 in Somerville, NJ to Kenneth and Dorothy Morecraft. He resided in Middlesex, NJ and attended Bound Brook High School where he excelled in both the classroom and on the athletic fields. Arthur then attended Lafayette College where he began to forge his future plans and studied mechanical engineering. After graduation, Arthur answered a call to serve his country when he joined the United States Army in 1965. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968 as a reconnaissance pilot in the Forward Air Control Group. Arthur received several citations and medals for his war-time service including the Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal and attained the rank of Major. Following his military service, Arthur utilized his flying experience and began a long and rewarding career as a commercial airline pilot for Trans World Airlines. Arthur flew the Boeing 727 and Boeing L-1011 domestically and internationally for over 20 years. He regularly brought his family along on his trips allowing them to share in his love for flying. Art met the love of his life, Susan Jean Madison, and they married in 1968. When he was on the ground, Art enjoyed spending time with his family and cheering for his three children in a variety of sports. He also enjoyed never ending projects around the home, traveling with family, and playing bridge. Art and Susan later retired to Galloway, NJ where they could be close to their favorite place, the ocean. Arthur is survived by his children, Julie Beiger (Andy Beiger), Jennifer Morecraft (Carole Finamore) and Keith Morecraft, and three grandchildren, Katie Beiger, Drew Beiger and Madison Morecraft. He is also survived by his brother, Alex Morecraft, and sister, Barbara Glauner. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Morecraft. A private celebration of life and burial service honoring Arthur’s memory will be held at a later date.
