Anthony Fiorentino, 91, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. Born August 22, 1922, in Tiriolo, Italy, he was the son of Joseph and Angela Golia Fiorentino. He came to the US in 1937 as a citizen. He had resided in Pennsylvania, Jersey City and Waldwick, then Myrtle Beach, SC, moving to Totowa in 2001. Anthony served as a Corporal in the US Army in World War II. He saw action in the Mediterranean and European Theaters of Operations. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Anthony retired in 1988, as a welder for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825, Springfield, after 42 years. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Myrtle Beach, and was an avid gardener. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Antoinette Corio Fiorentino, in 2000, Anthony is survived by his son, John (Janis) Fiorentino of Barnegat; his daughters, Angela (Ronald) Shubick of Bound Brook, Rosemary Fiorentino of Franklin, Annette Figueroy of Mt Bethel, PA, Dawn A. McConville of Totowa; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and his beloved great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Monday, February 3, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 10:00 Funeral Mass at St. Joseph R. C. Church, Bound Brook. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. Sunday.
