Ann T. Dorko

Ann Theresa Dorko, age 63, passed on February 1, 2021 . She was a resident of South Bound Brook for many years, where she died at home after a long illness. Ann had resided in Piscataway for her childhood and young adult years. She was the beloved daughter of the late Stephen J. Dorko and Theresa M. Dorko ( Moltzen); sister of her brothers Paul A. ( Harriet) Dorko, and the late Kevin F. Dorko; sister Mary Ellen ( Christopher) Larkin; and brother Andrew V. Dorko; also survived by many nieces, nephews cousins, and friends. Ann was a graduate of St. Joseph Elementary School in Bound Brook and Piscataway High School. She received her B.S. degree in Physical Education from Montclair State College in 1979 and pursued a career with various positions in her specialty : YMCA fitness instructor, Aquatic Activities/ Waterfront Director for a Girl Scout camp, and a lifeguard/First Aid Attendant at Round Valley Reservoir, Clinton. After devoting over 20 years to the physical education field, Ann then pursued her certification and licensure as a massage therapist, with emphasis in the medical massage discipline. Her leisure time and hobbies reflected Ann’s appreciation for nature and outdoor activities: camping, kayaking, hiking and scuba diving. With Ann’s love of the ocean, she especially enjoyed sightseeing in coastal regions. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to the local ASPCA, the Manville, Library or the Bound Brook Library.
