Ann Flynn

April 25, 1923 — April 1, 2014

Ann Flynn passed away April 1, 2014. Born in Plainfield, NJ and daughter of Anna Regan and Harry Dunn, she resided in Bound Brook for over 57 years. A graduate of Holy Trinity High School, she chose to follow a career in business and after completing business courses was assigned to the British War Commission in New York City. From there she was assigned to the Australian Embassy in Washington, DC where she met and later married her husband, Raymond Flynn.

Returning home to New Jersey she joined the Irving Trust Company on Wall Street and in later years she accepted a position as Court Clerk of the Bound Brook Municipal Court where she worked for 25 years until retirement. She also served as the organist for St. Bernard’s Church in Plainfield and later St. Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club in Plainfield and a Mercy Associate with the Sisters of Mercy at Mount St. Mary Academy, where she volunteered for 12 years after retirement to play piano for the Sisters of Mercy at their weekly songfest. More recently she volunteered to play piano for guests at the Adult Day Center of Somerset County.

She was predeceased by her beloved Ray in 2006 after 62 years of marriage; also by three sisters; Ruth Lostbourne, Grace Lostbourne, Marian Kepenach and one brother, Gerald Dunn.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Sharon Flynn, Nancy Flynn Lawten, Kathleen Flynn Harkins (Ronnie); Mary Ann Flynn Ely (Doug) and two sons, Raymond Flynn Jr. (Kerry) and Peter Flynn (Shelly); three grandchildren, Nick Flynn (Dana), Jessica Flynn Lawten, and Casey Flynn Hristakos (Jessica), and her great grandson, James Cole Flynn.

Funeral services begin 9:30am Wednesday, April 9 at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church. Friends received at the funeral home Tuesday, April 8 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Memorial Donations may be made to the Adult Day Center of Somerset County at 872 E Main St, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
