Ann Barbara Soberanski Yastine January 18, 1931 – June 6, 2021 Ann Barbara Soberanski Yastine, 90, of South Bound Brook died of natural causes on Monday, June 6, 2021. She is survived by her two children, Barbara Yastine and Dr. George Yastine Jr., her son-in-law John Damonti, her granddaughters Samantha and Jamie Damonti, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ann moved to South Bound Brook in 1962 with her husband George Sr. and their two children. Together, George Sr. and Ann built 30-plus homes in the town and surrounding areas of Somerset and Watchung. Following George Sr.’s death in 1966, Ann traded stocks, worked as a real estate agent and was employed as an administrative assistant by Mobil Oil Corporation and Valspar Corporation. During this time, she earned her associate’s degree at Somerset County College and embarked on studies at Rutgers University. She retired from Valspar Corporation in 1991. Ann was the youngest of 8 children born to Peter and Mary Soberanski of Old Bridge. During her time at Sayreville High School, Ann was active in school theatre, student council, the glee club and twirlers. She was elected to the NJ All-State Chorus, performing throughout the state, and was Sayreville High School’s drum majorette in her senior year. Following graduation in 1948, Ann pursued her artistic talents and enrolled at Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City. Devoted to her family, she returned to Old Bridge to care for her mother, after whose death she sought out sunshine and adventure by working in the offices of Judge J. Fritz Gordon in Miami, Florida. She returned to New Jersey in 1958 to marry George Sr., the one and only love of her life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 12, 9-10:15 am at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, following by 10:30 am mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 122 High Street, South Bound Brook, and final resting at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
