Angela Pellerano

October 14, 1922 — October 3, 2020

Angela Pellerano, of Piscataway, NJ, widow of her beloved husband of thirty-one years, Eugene W. Pellerano, passed away on October 3, 2020, at the age of 97. Angela was much loved by all, but especially by her three children and their spouses, Eugene and Laura Pellerano, Maria Pellerano and Peter Montague, and Barbara and Mark Nowakowski, and by her beloved niece, Bernadette, and her husband, Henry Pawlicki and their family, and by her goddaughter, Elaine DiCicco and her husband. Angela is remembered by her family and friends as loving, devoted, kind, funny, industrious, and generous. Angela was born and lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York before moving to Piscataway in 1957. After graduating from high school, she worked as a seamstress, a school cafeteria cook, and a quality control manager but her favorite job was as an office assistant for a small non-profit environmental organization. After retiring in her eighties, she kept busy, particularly crocheting blankets for premature babies at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. She liked to cook, was an avid reader of novels, and enjoyed taking trips, doing word puzzles and playing cards. She was a parishioner of St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Piscataway. Angela was predeceased by her two brothers and a sister, Chester Merendino, Anthony Merendino, and Rosalie DiPalermo, and her niece, Stephanie Malinowski. Angela is survived and was loved by five grandchildren and their spouses, James Addison and Kelly Pellerano, Allegra Pellerano, Bonnie and Alastor Polanco, Michael and Jessica Nowakowski, and Andrew Nowakowski and his fiancée Alexandra Go. Her four great grandchildren, Isabella and Gianna Nowakowski and Emmerson and Shephard Polanco, brought her much joy. In addition, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Catherine Rizzo, Anthony Merendino, Benedict Merendino, Judy Lampen, Arthur Merendino, Marie Mandarino, and Fred Pellerano. Her family thanks the staff of Parker at Stonegate, Stein Hospice, and Parker at River Road for their loving care of Angela during the later years of her life. We extend special thanks to Kristin Fields for caring for Angela, loving her, and laughing with her for the past two years. Please do not send flowers. The family requests donations be made in memory of Angela Pellerano to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
