Americo A. (Rick) Ferdinando, 96, died peacefully at his home on January 20th, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of Annibale and Vincenza (Corsini) Ferdinando. Americo attended Bound Brook High School and subsequently enlisted in the Army in 1943, serving stateside until 1946. He was the recipient of the American Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Americo worked as a mechanic for Town & Country Auto for 44 years, before retiring in 1990. His greatest role in life was being “Poppy” to his two grandsons and teaching them all he knew about woodworking and carpentry. He was sweet, kind, and was very patient. He looked in your eyes when you spoke and listened to what you had to say. He was a NY Yankees and NY Giants fan, a member of the Green Knoll Fire Department, and the American Legion Post 507, Bridgewater. Americo was predeceased by his brother, Clement. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Maria; his daughter, Mary Jane Thomas; his grandsons, Dr. Jeffrey A. Thomas Jr., Steven M. Thomas, PA-S; and his sister, Aldina King. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Bound Brook followed by a military burial at Bound Brook Cemetery.
