Alexander Carmine Tomaro

March 29, 1939 — February 12, 2022

Alexander C. Tomaro died Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Bound Brook, NJ, he was the son of Anthony and Rosa (Colallilo) Tomaro. Alex was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Bound Brook, where he received all of his sacraments. He graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1958 where he played football and baseball. After graduating, Alex enlisted in the Army serving until 1964. He was stationed in Dannstadt, Germany and was able to visit with relatives in Italy. A sports enthusiast, Alex loved the Yankees and Giants of old, and shook hands with Hank Bauer. He also played on the US Army traveling baseball team where Elvis Presley was in attendance at one game. Alex coached youth baseball and football with the Washington Rock Organization. In 1973, he took his oldest son Anthony to the last game played in Yankee stadium. Alex removed a seat from the stands and gave it to his son who still has it today. Alex worked as an appliance technician for 18 years with Sears, before opening Al’s Appliance Repair in Bound Brook. Alex passed on his knowledge and passion with his three sons. Alex retired in 2002, when he and his wife relocated to Wildwood Crest. Alex was a loving father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family on Diamond Beach.



Alex was predeceased by his grandson Joseph, brother Dominick, sister Victoria Stracquadanio, brother-in-law John Stracquadanio and sister-in-law Philomena Tomaro. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; his sons Anthony (Susan), Dean (Jackie), Gary (Stephanie); grandchildren Jonathan, Gianna, Anthony, Josephine, and Alex; sister Molly Colalillo (Tony); nieces Joanie Zuzga, Carol Karney, and Bernadette Paul; nephew Mark Colalillo (Jay).



Gathering with the family will be Friday, February 18, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, followed by a 12:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook. Cremation will be private. Memorial donations in Alex’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023
