Albert W. Hopping, 76, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, Somerville. Born in Morristown, he was the son of Albert and Margaret (Henry) Hopping. Mr. Hopping was a US Navy Veteran. In 1962, he joined the Morristown Fire Department, retiring as Chief in 1987. He continued to work for various towns in New Jersey as an inspector in the building, electrical, fire, and plumbing departments, and was currently the construction official for Highbridge Township. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and bowling. Mr. Hopping was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Lagalante, and his brother, David Hopping. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary; his daughters, Carrie, and her husband Larry Lagalante, of Morris Plains; Maureen, and her husband, Steven Camasta of Pennsylvania; his son, William “Skip”, and his wife, Jennifer Hopping of Barnegat; his step-sons, Michael Parisi of Florida and David Parisi of Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Christopher and Anthony “A.J.” Lagalante, Jacob, Jared, and Halle Hopping, Steven Paul Camasta, and David and Nicholas Parisi; and his siblings, Cindy, MaryAnne, and Tim. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until noon, Thursday, July 31, at the funeral home, with the funeral service at noon. Entombment is private. Memorial donations may be made to Steeplechase Cancer Center, 30 Rehill Ave. Somerville, NJ 08876.
