Abramo Franzetti

Abramo Franzetti, 88, died peacefully Saturday, November 29, 2014, at his home. Born in Brebbia, Province of Varese, Italy, he was the son of Giosue and Ida Franzetti. He emigrated to the United States in 1949, settling in Bound Brook. Mr. Franzetti lived and worked at the Bound Brook Inn, which was owned by his aunt and uncle Teresa and Alfredo Nangeroni. He married his sweetheart, Lois, in 1953. They lived in Middlesex, before returning to Bound Brook in 1963. Mr. Franzetti worked in Manhattan for twenty-five years as National Sales Manager for Novamont Corporation. While employed at Novamont, he attended evening classes at Rutgers for seven years, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1964. In 1981, he joined International Polymers Corporation as Executive Vice President, and retired in 1994 as President of the company. Mr. Franzetti enjoyed traveling and cherished the time he spent every summer with his family and many friends at his family home in Italy. He loved being with his family, golfing, bridge, cooking, baking, and making wine. An avid gardener, he took pride in propagating his fig trees, boxwood, and red maples. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook, for over fifty years, serving as an offertory counter and member of the Parish Council. Mr. Franzetti was predeceased by his four siblings who lived in Italy. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Lois; his daughter, Eda Franzetti Tato, and her husband, Joseph, of Chatham; his son, Carl of Bound Brook; his beloved granddaughters, Margaret and Emily Tato, and many nieces and nephews in Italy. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 A.M. Wednesday, December 3, at the funeral home, followed by an 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
