Paul Orlando Lopa Jr.

Paul Lopa, 87, died Monday October 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset, Somerville.  Born in Bound Brook, he was the son of Paul and Emanuela (Di Giovanni) Lopa.  Paul was a graduate of Bound Brook High School, and an active member in the community.  He was a foreman at American Cyanamid before retiring in 1989.  He was a United States Navy Veteran and had been stationed in Norfolk Virginia.  Paul was a member of the Giles - Biondi Post No. 63, American Legion, Bound Brook, Bound Brook Lodge No. 1388, B.P.O. Elks, and the Bound Brook Seniors Club.  He loved wrestling, especially watching his grandsons wrestle in high school and college.  He loved going to the Sands Casino with friends and his brother-in-law, Raymond.  Paul loved spending time with his family and friends and was known to his family as “Pop Pop”.  He was also known as “Mr. Fix It,” and was a jack of all trades. 

Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife Rita in 2014, and his siblings, Phil, Lena Holub, Rose Fabok, Mary Mancino, and Netta Anderson.  He is survived by his children, Paulette Kirchner and her husband, James of Somerville, and James and wife Rita of Bridgewater; his six grandchildren, James and his wife Amanda, Kelsey and Paulie Kirchner, and Sofia, Emanuela, and Ava Lopa. 

Gathering with the family will be 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, October 27, 2017, at the funeral home.  Funeral services will begin Saturday, 8:30 A.M., at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Bound Brook.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bridgewater
